During his time at Santa Cruz High, Makai led both the basketball and football teams to various championships. Later, at the University of Oregon, he held top executive positions in multiple organizations and explored real estate development. With a B.S. in Business Administration, Makai returned to his hometown of Santa Cruz, where he now resides in Live Oak.
